Councillor Mike Band

Mike Band is married with two adult children and four grandchildren. He and his wife Val have been active in Shamley Green since they came to live there in 1974. He recently retired after 42 years service with the UK Babcock Group where he held a series of senior positions. He was particularly involved with their overseas operations and travelled extensively to Mexico, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Japan and India. After many years spent travelling, he is now enjoying being at home a little more but still enjoys trips to Europe and further, with his wife and family on vacation. His other interests include the theatre, gardening and walking and he can often be seen with his wife and dogs on the many footpaths on Farley Heath, Blackheath and Winterfold.

Mike Band is Deputy Leader of the Council, Vice-Chairman of the Executive and Portfolio Holder for Finance and Best Value.  He is also a member of the following Committees:-

• Area Planning Committee (Eastern)
• Joint Planning Committee
