Break the silence
Published Monday 7th June 10
Stop Adult Abuse Awareness Week aims to help people across Surrey to understand the huge impact that adult abuse can have on individuals and how widespread the issue is.
'Break the silence' - Seen something? Say something!
Everyone has the right to lead a life free from fear of abuse and encourage anyone who sees it or experiences it to report it.
A range of events to help promote the message have been organised. See the Stop Adult Abuse Week event listing on Surrey County Council's website.
Cllr David Munro (Con), Waverley's Portfolio Holder for Community, says: "These events are particularly open to those who work directly within our communities at day centres, sheltered housing units, or for community carelines. However, it is important that everybody knows the message 'Seen something? Say something'. If there is a situation that needs action, please speak out."
