Homes get green light
Published Tuesday 22nd June 10
Thirty nine new affordable homes are to be built on the former Rowland House site in Cranleigh, after Waverley granted planning permission last week.
Thames Valley Housing Association will build, own and manage the combination of flats and family-sized houses. Work on the site is expected to start in the autumn, with completion towards the end of 2011.
Cllr Keith Webster, Waverley's Councillor responsible for Housing, says: "Having this planning permission granted is excellent news for the community. There will be 39 brand new homes in Cranleigh that will immediately become available to those who need them most. Those that are on Waverley's housing needs register will have first option to apply for these homes and with such a shortage of affordable housing in Waverley, this will be of immense help to local families."
Rowlys Day Centre will remain where it is and will stay open while building is underway. To view the plans for the new homes (application number WA/2010/0432) please visit the planning website.
The make-up of the new homes will be as follows:
- 19 X 3 bed houses
- 2 X 2 bed houses
- 2 X 4 bed houses
- 6 X 1 bed flats
- 10 X 2 bed flats
